Ron Vogelsong
Ron Vogelsong received his Bachelor's of Arts in Music Performance on bass trombone from the University of South Florida in 1978. He went on to get a BSEE, MSEE, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering there in 1985. He continued at USF for five years as a professor of electrical engineering before moving to Palm Bay to work for Harris Semiconductor. Since 2001, he's been working from home for Cadence Design Systems, an electronic design automation software company headquartered in California.
On the lighter side, Ron spent 15 years playing bass trombone for many shows on Florida's west coast. Since moving to the east coast, Ron has performed primarily on tenor trombone in a wide variety of ensembles, including the Oh Golly Dixieland Band, the Sunshine Brass Quintet, Swingtime Lite, the Dog Bones, the Coastal Brass, and the Melbourne First Baptist Church Orchestra. Ron enjoys arranging music for brass ensembles and the handbell choir at FBC Melbourne. He lives in Palm Bay with his wife Jean and two cats, and in his spare time enjoys bicycling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
